The Untamed One

WAZZUP PILIPINAS!

When Greece is one of the  topics on a discussion, we never forget talking about their Gods and Goddesses. Well, If I'm going to pick one, I will surely pick Artemis. I think that she is very unique among all the Goddesses. She's the daughter of the God Zeus and Leto, twin sister of the God Apollo. In Rome, she is known as Diana. She's the goddess of the moon, hunting, wild, animals, wilderness , and protector of young girls, bringing and relieving disease in women; she often was depicted as a huntress carrying a bow and arrows.  Artemis as the sister of Apollo, is a kind of female Apollo, that is, she as a female divinity represented the same idea that Apollo did as a male divinity.  Pretty cool right? When Apollo was regarded as identical with the sun or Helios, nothing was more natural than that his sister should be regarded as Selene or the moon, and accordingly the Greek Artemis is the goddess of the moon.

When we were asked to choose one Goddess and relate it to ourselves, Artemis was the first one that came to my mind. I don't know why but we have, somehow, similar traits and qualities.  Artemis is known for having quite a temper, and for guarding those she loved with great zeal. I too, have this temper whenever things don't happen the way I want them. I am also very protective to my loved ones. I don't know If Artemis is very full of pride, but I am one. I may look like someone as innocent as the Goddess Hestia, but I am as fierce as Artemis. She may not be as pretty as Aphrodite, as wise as Athena, or as mature as Hera, but she is the most fierce. And most especially, she is the untamed one.
